Introduction to the Center - Mission and Vision
1. Origin of the plan
In 2012, a column in the New York Times wrote that the era of "big data" has arrived. In business, economics and other fields, decisions will increasingly be made based on data and analysis rather than experience and intuition. Big data must be counted, compared, and analyzed by computer in order to obtain objective results. The United States started to work on big data in 2012, and Obama even invested 200 million US dollars in the development of big data in the same year, emphasizing that big data will be the oil of the future. The emergence of big data has increased the professional demand for data science and information management. Software AG, Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, SAP, EMC, HP and Dell have invested more than 15 billion US dollars in many big data-related majors. In 2010, the market value of the data management and analysis industry exceeded US$100 billion, and it grew at a rate of nearly 10% per year, twice the growth rate of the entire software industry.
2. Introduction to the Center
Based on the needs of big data analysis, the team promoted the establishment of the "Big Data Research Center". During the period, six programs will be implemented through the anchoring of core goals such as theme research, talent cultivation, industry-university cooperation, innovation and entrepreneurship, social responsibility, and international contribution.
(1) Work objectives:
Advocate research on topics related to big data analysis and accumulate scientific research energy.
Improve the development and cultivation of big data analysis talents.
Link industry-government-university-research cooperation, promote technology transfer and industrial upgrading, and become a platform for emerging technology integration and sharing.
Incubate innovative teams, achieve innovation and entrepreneurship (Spin-off) or join outstanding domestic enterprises to enhance industrial technology (Spin-in) benefits.
Share the knowledge, experience and achievements of cross-field professional integration of big data analysis.
Join the International Association of Big Data Analysis and actively host international academic seminars.
(2) Center features:
With domestic and foreign interdisciplinary professional research teams, with strong research and development capabilities, to implement localized and internationalized research cooperation.
Teaching quality assurance and learning effectiveness mechanisms with international standards (for example: AACSB, IEET). And the experience of credit courses related to cross-field and cross-college, provide characteristic big data courses to build a good talent cultivation environment.
It can link and integrate various resources and experience of industry, government, academia and research, so as to promote research cooperation between local and central governments, research institutions and industries and shape international recognition.
It has a wealth of big data from sources such as EasyCard, fiscal and tax information center, health insurance information, remittance office center, government open information, and many private companies.
Have sufficient resources such as software, hardware and space required for R&D.
He has rich experience in participating in important international organizations and hosting international seminars, and can link research results with international standards.
